Al-Quds Open University in collaboration with The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission organize a scientific conference entitled: “Popular Resistance in Palestine in Literature and Reality” |

The conference aims at shedding light on the diverse forms of popular resistance in Palestine and the role of official institutions and commission, on top of them the Commission of Colonization and Wall Resistance in preserving and protecting the lands threatened by colonization, resist the attacks of settlers, and document and publish the literary works related to colonization resistance. The themes of the conference are as follows:
The research should reflect one of the above-mentioned themes. Abstracts should be submitted separately not later than June 10 /2019, and should not exceed 200 words. |

Overview
Due to the significant imbalance of military power between the Palestinians and the Israeli Occupation and the reversal of the Arab and international support to the Palestinian resistance movements, the Palestinian people on both the official and popular levels, adopted different forms of resistance to face the occupation and its frenzied attempts to occupy the largest number of Palestinian lands. The forefront of these forms is the popular resistance with its different forms that aim at preventing the occupation from realizing its goals in usurping the Palestinian lands, and firmly gain the international sympathy with the just Palestinian cause. Thus, and as part al-Quds Open University/Faculty of Arts responsibility towards this issue and in collaboration with the Commission of Colonization and Wall Resistance organize a conference entitled: “Popular Resistance in Palestine in Literature and Reality” in order to shed light on this kind of resistance in reality and its reflections in language and literature.
Conference Importance
The importance of this conference lies in addressing the cause of preserving and protecting the Palestinian lands which is a national important cause, in light of the incursion of settlements and the ongoing Israeli practices in confiscating the Palestinian lands under false alleges and pretexts. The conference sheds lights on the peaceful popular resistance against colonization, and means of improving and supporting it to march on with its aim in preserving the land and man. Moreover, the conference stresses the importance of literary works of resisting colonization since it is the first time a conference is conducted to tackle this issue.
Conference Objectives
- Shedding light on the importance of popular resistance in protecting the lands and resisting colonization.
- Documenting and publishing the Palestinian literary works related to resisting colonization.
- Stressing the role of Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission in responding to the attacks of settlers and preserve the lands threatened by confiscation.
- Highlighting the role of civil society institutions in resisting colonization and apartheid, on top of them al-Quds Open University.
- Exploring international experiences in popular resistance and benefit from them on the local level.
- Identifying the different forms of popular resistance in Palestine and the challenges facing these movements.

c. The forms of popular resistance in face of the colonial Israeli settlement project.
d. Challenges and difficulties of popular resistance in Palestine.

Terms and Conditions for Participation
- The research should be related to one of the conference themes.
- Research papers can be submitted in either English or Arabic.
- Papers should follow the principles of scientific research in terms of citation and list of references.
- The research should be original and not published in a journal or submitted to another conference.
- The research should not exceed 25 pages, A4 size.
- The research should be submitted as Word file. The font used should be “Simplified Arabic”, size 14, line spacing of 1 cm, for research papers written in Arabic. The font used should be “Times New Roman”, size 14, line spacing of 1.5 cm, for research papers written in English.
- The Research should contain an abstract, written in both Arabic and English. It should tackle the importance of the topic and its key elements and the expected results. It should not exceed 200 words.
- Participation Forms should be attached with the submitted abstracts.
