Al-Quds Open University has concluded its participation in a series of specialized training workshops on human rights and gender equality, implemented as part of the “Amal” project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. These workshops targeted students from higher education institutions throughout the 2024–2025 academic year.
This participation comes under the guidance of the University President, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shaer, who has consistently emphasized the University’s commitment to extracurricular engagement with both official and civil society institutions, as a means to enrich students' knowledge and community involvement and to prepare young leaders capable of driving positive change within their local and regional contexts.
Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Salameh Salem, stated that “QOU's involvement in this national project aligns with its vision, mission, and philosophy, which have always aimed to promote human rights values. This is reflected in the University’s introduction of the Gender Studies major and the development of academic curricula that integrate these principles into the learning process. Moreover, the University is currently working toward the accreditation of a Master's program in this field.”
More than 600 students from various universities and colleges benefited from these workshops, which aimed to empower university youth intellectually and in leadership, while equipping them with the necessary skills to actively engage in societal issues particularly in relation to equality, economic empowerment, and employment from a gender perspective
