As part of the efforts to enhance education in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), Dr. Mahmoud Hwamdeh, Director of the Continuing Education Center at Al Quds Open University, along with a Palestinian delegation from the Ministry of Education participated in a scientific visit to Belgium within the collaboration with the Belgian Development Agency (ENABEL).
The visit included the exchange of expertise with Belgian partners from various educational institutions. The delegation visited the Belgian Ministry of Education and Training, as well as several educational centers and interactive workshops, such as STEAM labs and Makerspaces like Maakbib.be and IT Garage. The delegation also participated in the Science Festival in Antwerp. The visit included workshops in design, architecture, water management, programming, and technology, with the aim of gathering new ideas and best practices that could be applied in Palestine.
Dr. Hwamdeh expressed his gratitude to all partners in Belgium, emphasizing that "this visit has contributed to strengthening efforts to develop the digital education environment in Palestine and expanding the scope of cooperation in sustainable education."
The visit represents an important step toward enhancing STEAM programs in Palestine and supporting youth, especially girls and vulnerable groups, by providing innovative learning opportunities that encourage creativity and innovation in education.
