Al-Quds Open University has achieved a new milestone by winning the EUSEEDS project (Enable, Upgrade and Spread Employability, Entrepreneurship and Digital Skills), funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED programme. The project aims to enhance youth employability, develop their digital skills, and support a culture of entrepreneurship in Eastern Mediterranean countries.
QOU is participating through its Partnerships and Resource Development Unit within a regional consortium of 24 universities from five Eastern Mediterranean countries, strengthening academic cooperation and facilitating knowledge and expertise exchange among partner higher-education institutions.
Prof. Ibrahim Al-Shaer, the University President, expressed pride in this achievement, noting that it reflects a clear strategic vision based on expanding effective international partnerships and strengthening the university’s presence in competitive projects that improve higher-education quality and align learning outcomes with labor-market needs. He emphasized that investing in people is the highest form of investment, and enabling students and graduates with modern knowledge and tools is a fundamental pillar for sustainable development and a knowledge-based economy.
Ms. Bayan Shobaki, Director of the Partnerships and Resource Development Unit commented that winning the project reflects the university’s advanced academic standing and competitiveness in attracting regional and international projects, as well as its continuous efforts to expand international partnerships in service of students and the local community.
The project focuses on establishing and developing specialized university centers that will provide high-quality training programs, practical workshops, and career guidance and support services. These activities aim to refine students’ and graduates’ skills in digital competencies, entrepreneurship, and essential labor-market skills.
