On Tuesday, 26 August 2025, Al-Quds Open University hosted the scientific forum “Cybersecurity as a Social Responsibility in a Digital World”, held via virtual reality technology and organized under the patronage of Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities. The event witnessed broad participation from academics, experts, and specialists representing various Arab countries and universities.
Prof. Ibrahim Al-Shaer who chairs the Arab Universities Council for Social Responsibility emphasized that cybersecurity is a national and social responsibility shared by individuals, institutions, and governments. He underlined the University’s commitment to embedding digital security concepts within academic programs, research, and community initiatives, highlighting two key messages: the need to instill cybersecurity culture in future generations and the importance of investing in people before technology.
Speakers included Dr. Randa Rizk, Secretary-General of the Arab Council for Social Responsibility, and Prof. Yousef Diab Awwad, Director of the Arab Universities Council for Social Responsibility, who underscored the role of universities in leading digital awareness and addressing emerging cyber challenges.
Technical sessions were led by cybersecurity experts, presenting regional risks and practical solutions for enhancing digital resilience in higher education and society.
The forum concluded with strategic recommendations presented by Dr. Walid Salous, Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Applied Sciences at QOU, calling for continuous training programs, applied research, the establishment of national cybersecurity centers, and the promotion of safe digital transformation in education.
