Al-Quds Open University (QOU) and the Teacher Creativity Center inaugurated a specialized training program on social-emotional learning (SEL) methodology at the Teacher Creativity Center Forum (Al-Attar) in Mawasi Khan Younis, with the participation of 25 students from the university.
This program comes as part of a joint cooperation initiative between the two institutions, aiming to strengthen university students’ capacities and equip them with practical skills that integrate psychological and social dimensions into the educational process through social-emotional learning.
QOU President Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shaer highlighted the importance of the initiative, praising the dedication of the university’s staff in Gaza and thanking the partners and supporters, including the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Government of Luxembourg.
Representatives from the Teacher Creativity Center emphasized that the program offers students a real opportunity to gain experience with modern teaching approaches that support children emotionally and help mitigate the effects of trauma.
The six-day training, led by Prof. Dr. Omar Dahlan and Dr. Mohammad Zatma, is part of the 2025–2026 SEL Project implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and supported by the Government of Luxembourg. The project aims to enhance the social and academic performance of children in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza.
