A National Democratic Institute's (NDI) delegation visits al-Quds Open University

The President of Al-Quds Open University, Prof. Samir Najdi received a delegation from the National Democratic Institute (NDI), in his office in Ramallah, where the two sides discussed ways to collaborate and develop the "I Participate" program, which NDI had been running for five years in a number of QOU branches.

Prof. Najdi affirmed that NDI's programs help young people develop the capabilities and skills required by labour market. He also affirmed that such programs implemented by NDI contribute to the development of youth capabilities and skills, encouraging students to participate in extracurricular activities and training programs that aim to enhance their knowledge and develop their practical skills.

For his part, Mr.  Jeffrey England, the Deputy Regional Director for NDI's Middle East and North Africa (MENA) said, "Our partnership with al-Quds Open University is strategic and continuous through the "I Share" program, which the university launched five years ago, and implemented in four branches: Hebron, Dora, Salfit and Qalqilya, within the framework of implementing programs related to the democratic awareness of students.” Mr. England continued, “QOU has become a reference for our work with other universities in Palestine, hoping that the program will be expanded.”

Mr. Ulric Shannon, Resident Senior Director, West Bank and Gaza National Democratic Institute (NDI) commented that the visit aims to get acquainted with the details of QOU’s work, and that NDI will continue to strengthen the programs, relationship and partnership with QOU and indicated that they many ideas and programs in which NDI can cooperate with the university, as well as develop the programs that are being implemented, and others that reflect the tendency of the National Democratic Institute and keep pace with the needs of university students.”
