QOU launches "Enhancing Early Childhood and Care in Palestine" Project

 Al-Quds Open University, within the "Erasmus +" program and co-funded by the European Union, launched, on Monday February 15, 2021, “Enhancing Early Childhood and Care in Palestine” Project which aims  to promote early childhood education and care in Palestine.

QOU will implement the project in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Social Development, in partnership with three Palestinian universities: Al-Aqsa University, Al-Ummah College, Al-Rawda College, and six other European universities and institutions.

The three-year project aims to ensure that children have access to all early childhood services in a sustainable manner through the government's commitment to provide services and work in partnership with universities and institutions related to early childhood care, locally, regionally and internationally.

Prof.  Younes Amr, President of QOU, said, “Al-Quds Open University is working to serve the Palestinian community in the field of promoting children's rights by providing specializations that contribute to the graduation of specialists in this field, in a way that guarantees achieving justice and equality and solves any problem facing the early childhood sector in Palestine ".

Prof. Amr thanked the partners in "Erasmus +" and the Ministries of Education and Social Development, and the partners from Palestinian and European universities.

For his part, the Director of the Erasmus + office in Palestine, Dr. Nidal Al-Jayyousi thanked all those involved in this project on the Palestinian and European sides, especially Al-Quds Open University, which is leading the project despite all the political difficulties that the Palestinian people are experiencing.

Eng. Muhammad Fahal, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Community Service, said that the Center is working to develop a professional diploma in the nursery and early childhood sector in order to serve this sector in Palestine.

Ms. Bayan Al-Shobaki, the project coordinator, said that the project includes a set of activities, most notably the development of a road map for the early childhood sector in Palestinian universities and the sector in general.The project also includes  Enhancing the capacities of faculty members in the early childhood sector in Palestine, developing two courses in it through blended education, and developing a professional diploma in early childhood.
