The Continuing Education and Community Service Center and the Faculties of "Social Development" and "Educational Sciences" Organize a Training Workshop

 The Continuing Education and Community Service Center and the Faculties of Social and Family Development and Educational Sciences at QOU organized a training workshop on early childhood, targeting faculty members at the two faculties, in order to transfer the experience gained by members of the Al-Quds Open University team in the project " Enhancing Early Childhood Education and Care in Palestine" which is funded by Erasmus Plus.

On the first day, Dr. Iyad Abu Bakr and Mr. Khaled Abu Haija, talked about the pastoral and educational system of early childhood in Portugal, while Dr. Atef Asouly and Mr. Ismail Afandi, talked about the mechanism of supervising students field training in nurseries through reviewing the visits made by team members to nurseries in Bragença, Portugal. Dr. Atef Sabry and Dr. Nafiz Ayoub talked about supervising field training students in kindergartens and reviewing the visits made by the team members to kindergartens in the city of Bragença in Portugal.

On the second day, the team members discussed topics dealt with during training held at the Italian University of Palermo, Dr. Atef Asouly and Mr. Ismail Afandi discussed 4C strategy which includes developing children's capabilities in critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. Dr. Nafez Ayoub and Dr. Atef Sabry, explained in detail the strategy of observation and control among educators in nurseries and kindergartens, and what is the mechanism for its implementation, then Dr. Iyad Abu Bakr and Mr. Khaled Abu Haija talked about the role of educators in nurseries and kindergartens in enhancing awareness and quality of education.

As for the third and last day of the workshop, titled "The Eradication of Literacy in Early Childhood", in which Dr. Nafez Ayoub and Dr. Atef Sabry, discussed what it means to be educated in the twenty-first century in early childhood. Dr. Iyad Abu Bakr and Mr.  Khaled Abu Haija, discussed realistic mathematics, its strategies and the mechanism of its implementation in early childhood, followed by Dr. Atef Asouly and Mr. Ismail Afandi, who dealt in detail with the eradication of illiteracy and the STEAM strategy in early childhood.

The workshop included a presentation by, Dr. Cristina Mesquita, the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, Portugal, Dr. Elena Migno, the University of Palermo, and Dr. Maria Ampartzaki, University of Crete, Greece (UOC).
