QOU participates in the Open Education Week of UNIMED

 The Assistant to the President of QOU for Technology and Production Affairs, Dr. Eng. Islam Amr participated in the Open Education Week organized by UNIMED. Where he talked about the experience of distance education in Palestine in general and in QOU in particular amid the Covid-19 pandemic

The meeting was held virtually via "Zoom" technology, with the participation of several European and Arab universities from the Mediterranean.

Dr. Amr talked about the experience of Al-Quds Open University in responding to Covid-19 and the changes that occurred in the workflow in light of the pandemic, methods and techniques of intervention, challenges, and work methodology. He also talked about the administrative structure of the university that supports e-learning, and the assets of QOU which assisted in adapting e-learning model such as The Open Learning Center, The Information Technology Center, The Media Production Center and The Pedagogy department that includes books and content development. Then Dr. Amr talked about the challenges that the university faced, especially since the pandemic coincided with the exam period and everything had to be virtualized including exams.

He concluded with the general issues on the national level for Palestinian universities amid COVID-19 and the migration to eLearning process and the key challenges, which were technical ones represented by the lack of knowledge in migrating to e-Learning, lack of e-content and lack of internal regulations.

The significant achievement amid the crisis is working on a draft of the law to organize e learning. Dr. Amr recommended several things that can be done like creating content, building national content standard in addition to national educational technology forums.
